    Chris Spedding

Chris Spedding may not be a household name to this generation raised on Drake, Taylor Swift and Rhianna, but to the rock intelligentsia, he is well known in the business. For almost 40 years Spedding, in addition to recording numerous critically acclaimed solo LPs, has been renowned as the session guitarist for many acts in addition to being his own artist. When needed to fill an essential guitar part either on someone’s album or on tour, Spedding is the go-to guy. The people that this British veteran has played for and/or produced reads like a who’s who in popular music: Brian Eno, Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music, Jack Bruce, Dusty Springfield, Nina Hagen, Marianne Faithfull, Paul McCartney, Roy Harper, John Cale, Chrissie Hynde, Robert Gordon, the Sex Pistols, Laurie Anderson, and the Bay City Rollers. When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame starts nominating people for the sideman category, Spedding’s name should be on the top of the list.

Doors Open Project 24: 'Ahead by a Century' Tour & Performance

London Heritage Council & Centre of Movement Arts present: "Ahead by a Century: A London Childhood 100 Years Ago", by Bizz Varty. Sept 21-22 2024, tours from 11 AM - 12 PM and 1 PM - 2 PM in Old East Village A historical walking tour animated with dance performances, this project tells a travelling story about the childhood of Audrey Varty. It’s 1924 when 7-year-old Audrey gets her first library card and opens a book to embark on a high seas adventure with her neighbourhood friends. As they sail around the world (and through OEV) they encounter dances from far-away places and fight pirates before returning home in time for tea. Directed by Bizz Varty, this site-specific dance theatre experience will feature contemporary, Flamenco and Bellydance by London artists and be performed by multi-generational dance artists alongside community volunteers. Tour Route: Begin at Queen’s Park, walk to Carson Library, Lorne Ave Park, Banting House, and finish at East Village Market. You can learn lots more about the project at www.centreofmovement.ca/doors-open-24. This project is being funded by the London Heritage Council, but is also in large part a volunteer labour of love to honour Bizz's grandmother and connect to the community. In addition to hiring dancers, we are looking for donors, funders, and sponsors to support the work of our artistic team and increase access to the project.
