Racquel Rowe’s The Centre of the World Was the Beach runs from January 11 to March 8, 2025, with an opening reception on January 11 from 5 PM - 7 PM. Inspired by Dionne Brand’s A Map to the Door of No Return, the exhibition explores migration, memory, and identity through video, photography, and installations, transforming the gallery into a space of shared histories and diasporic connection. Originally from Barbados and now based in Canada, Rowe’s interdisciplinary work spans performance, video, and installation. Influenced by history, family structures, and diasporic experiences, her art examines cultural continuity and belonging across generations.
