The Fugitives are an acoustic folk-roots group headed by songwriters Adrian Glynn and Brendan McLeod. They’re joined by banjo player Chris Suen (Viper Central) and violinist Carly Frey (The Coal Porters). Over their first five albums, they’ve amassed a JUNO nomination, 6 CFMA nominations, and toured extensively through Canada, Europe, and the UK. Performance highlights include major Canadian folk festivals, a Glastonbury performance, and a tour supporting Buffy Sainte-Marie. In 2020, the band created RIDGE, a WW1-centered theatre show. Ridge has been performed at theatres across Canada and was named a Globe & Mail Top Arts Pick of the Year. The band has earned a reputation for unforgettable live shows, brimming with complex harmonies, infectious storytelling, and top-notch musicianship.

Doors Open London is an event presented by the London Heritage Council. During the event weekend which usually happens each September, the public is treated a chance to explore the many museums, heritage sites, and organizations around the city FREE of charge. Londoners, Newcomers, and visitors alike are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the city from this unique perspective. The 23rd annual Doors Open London (DOL) weekend will take place in September 21 & 22, 2024. This year’s theme is Live. Work. Play: In the Forest City. Visitors will have the opportunity to see how the participation sites, organisations, and businesses have changed and impacted the evolution of our city and by extension, Londoners. Places of worship will highlight how the community have embraced their faith throughout the years. Businesses and places of work will showcase how work culture, demographics, and the impact of the economy have shaped the organizations and helped their respective sectors advance over the years. Cultural organizations will illuminate how Londoners have, over the years, embraced the arts not only as a means of entertainment, but also as a means of pursuing interests and passions. In Cyprus: Landscapes of Peacekeeping. Original Art Inspired by UNFICYP (1966 – 1985) 17 July to 22 September 2024 In 2024, we mark 60 years since the UN resolution 186 established the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). Before smartphones and social media, human imaginary was equally fascinated by routine. Yet, routine was captured with different mediums and, arguably, superior skills. With an analog photographic camera, a pen or a brush, artists surprised viewers with their precision, spontaneous brush strokes, ultimately, unexpected details which help identifying a specific narrative beyond the images on paper or canvas. In Cyprus, professional artists or serving members with artistic inclinations generated a sizeable production beginning with the first rotation in 1966, and ending in 1985; although the RCR rotated to Cyprus until 1993, inspiration seems to have waned in the later years. The artworks in this exhibition are the creation of individuals who travelled as part of the Canadian Armed Forces Civilian Artists Program, a program that opened a door to the expression of individual artistic flair while developing a “documentary” production. Other works are the creation of media experts, photo reporters or illustrators visiting Cyprus. We wish to acknowledge the Canadian War Museum, Archives and Special Collections, University of Western Ontario, as well as several private lenders who have generously agreed to lending their items to the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum.
