Ola Volo's mural, titled Queen and the Dove, features a powerful depiction of a queen, representing Mother Nature, partially veiled by a large dove symbolizing new beginnings.

Framed by vibrant pink and green beams, reminiscent of stage lights, the queen commands attention with her presence. The lightning bolts on her crown symbolize power, while the surrounding trilliums, Ontario’s official flower, ground the artwork in its local heritage. The 18 by 16-metre mural is located on a wall on the side of London's Grand Theatre at the corner of Richmond Street and Dufferin Street.

      ABOUT THE MURAL

Volo describes the mural as a celebration of empowerment and confidence. “I wanted her to take up the whole space—top to bottom, head to toe, side to side,” Volo said. “It really symbolizes not shying away from speaking up, taking up space, or being seen.” Inspired by the confidence of stage performers, the mural reflects the courage required to step into the spotlight, embrace one’s identity, and assert one’s presence with strength and pride.
