      ABOUT THE MURAL

The original painting of Embassy at Nite, 1978, is from a series of watercolours that were commissioned by the artist Jamelie Hassan’s sister Helen Haller, the former co-owner of the Embassy Hotel (1978-2000). The series relates to the former Embassy Hotel and its environment, a duplex that their father Alex Hassan built in 1936. The original watercolour of Embassy at Nite was donated to Museum London by Helen Haller in 2019. A three-story digital reproduction of the mural was installed at the Embassy Commons in 2023.
