After 55 years of touring and 19 albums, the Legendary Downchild Blues Band, one of Canada’s most iconic blues groups, is saying farewell to the road. Known for their infectious jump-blues style, Downchild has made an indelible mark on the music world, inspiring the creation of the Blues Brothers by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. Their songs “Shotgun Blues” and “I Got Everything I Need (Almost)” were even featured on The Blues Brothers' 1979 album Briefcase Full of Blues. Led by Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh, who co-founded the band with his late brother Richard, Downchild has shared stages with blues legends like B.B. King and Buddy Guy and performed in some of the world’s finest venues.
As the band celebrates its 55th anniversary, this final tour offers fans a "Last Chance to Dance" and enjoy their electrifying live performances. Downchild’s lineup, including Donnie Walsh on guitar and harmonica, Chuck Jackson on vocals, Pat Carey on saxophone, Gary Kendall on bass, Jim Casson on drums, and Tyler Yarema on keyboards, continues to deliver unforgettable shows that capture the essence of the blues. Their legacy is cemented not only in their music but also in honors like Donnie Walsh's induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside legends such as Leonard Cohen and Neil Young.
